PACTT's Transition Program places a strong emphasis on community participation and vocational training. Last week, the class visited YoFresh yogurt shop in Evanston, and had the opportunity to talk with the manager about the store and its tasty treats.

Our HS2 class took advantage of the milder weather last week, and went exploring at Lincoln Park Zoo:
Today, we welcomed two instructors from Robert Crown Center's Health Education Program. They recently received an Autism Speaks grant, to modify their puberty education program for students with autism and we at PACTT got to be their guinea pigs as they roll out this new program. The Robert Crown folks were incredibly flexible in the planning and presentation of the material to meet the needs of our students, with lots of hands-on materials, photos and other visuals. We even had a student volunteer to demonstrate how to take a shower (water-free, of course!). We were impressed with how attentive and engaged so many of our students were throughout the one-hour session. Thank you, Robert Crown Center!
Our HS2 class ventured northward to the Baha'i Temple in Wilmette for a relaxing wander through beautiful gardens, on what turned out to be a lovely Friday:

Our Transition Class learned about animals and visited some four-legged friends during last week's trip to PAWS Chicago. Thanks to the folks at PAWS, for hosting our class visit!
Some of our Transition Program students have recently begun regular visits to our local YMCA - where they can get some extra activity in, despite the cold. Last week's activity of choice? Basketball!
